CO-WATERS invites Coalition members and interested organisations to the online launch event of the Coalition of cities, regions, islands and ports for the Mission Ocean and Waters, taking place on 8 June 2026 at 14:00 CEST.
The event will introduce the Coalition and provide an overview of the services delivered by CO-WATERS to support Coalition members in advancing their sustainable blue transition and contributing to the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030”.
The event is open to both Coalition members and non-members interested in joining. Participants will also get a sneak peek of one of CO-WATERS’ upcoming services: the interactive Sensemaking Workshops, designed to support peer learning and knowledge exchange across territories.
Why attend?
Across Europe, waterfront communities are already taking action to restore marine and freshwater systems. However, scaling impact requires stronger cooperation, access to practical tools, and structured support.
This online event will:
- Introduce the purpose and objectives of the Coalition
- Explain who can join and how membership works
- Present the CO-WATERS service offer and how to access it
- Provide an interactive preview of the sensemaking approach
What services will CO-WATERS offer to Coalition members?
During the launch event, participants will discover the full range of services that CO-WATERS is developing and rolling out between 2026 and 2029 to support Coalition members.
These include opportunities to strengthen networking and peer learning through thematic working groups, knowledge exchange activities and a structured Twinning Programme. CO-WATERS will also offer hands-on training and capacity building, supporting territories in developing robust Transition Plans and strengthening key skills such as systems thinking, stakeholder engagement and sustainable finance.
Participants will also learn more about CO-WATERS support for citizen and stakeholder engagement, including Blue Climathons and practical tools such as the Local Stakeholder Engagement Workbook. In addition, the service offer includes guidance on funding and financing, with a dedicated financing guide, thematic webinars and future opportunities to connect with investors and solution providers.
Finally, the event will introduce the development of a Label which will recognise territories’ commitment and progress towards the Mission objectives through a structured approach based on stakeholder engagement and a Transition Plan.
Sensemaking Workshop sneak peek
The second part of the event will offer participants a first interactive preview of the upcoming Sensemaking Workshops. Through short inputs from pilot territories and facilitated discussions, participants will explore how peer learning can help transform shared challenges into actionable insights and future collaboration.
