The Commission's flagship research and innovation event brings together policymakers, researchers, stakeholders and the public to debate and shape the future of research and innovation in Europe and beyond.
The European Commission is pleased to announce the upcoming 'Macro-Regional and Sea Basin Strategies Days 2025'

2025 All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance Forum

Ecomondo
Key annual event for green and circular economy. EU Digital Ocean Forum

The 3rd European Blue Economy Conference 2026

2nd Symposium: Full Sail Ahead Towards the Sustainable Blue Economy
The Partnership's 2nd Symposium will bring together co-funded projects, policymakers, industry leaders, funding organisations, and members of the Black Sea community. The event will raise visibility of the Partnership's activities and funding opportunities, showcase ongoing projects and support the scaling of their innovations, foster private-sector engagement in research, innovation, and market uptake & highlight the Partnership's pan-European, sea-basin approach, with a focus on the Black Sea. This flagship European stakeholder event also aims to build a strong community around the sustainable blue economy and underline the Partnership's contribution to the European Ocean Pact, EU maritime policies, Agenda 2030, and the UN Ocean Decade.
World Maritime Forum
This is a two-day international gathering of shipowners, port authorities, regulators, technology firms and other maritime stakeholders, designed to share knowledge, showcase innovations and debate the future of shipping across safety, sustainability, digitalization, decarbonization and more. It combines high-level panel discussions and a large exhibition, offering a broad platform for networking, strategic planning and industry-wide collaboration toward a greener, more efficient maritime sector.
Ocean Sciences Meeting
The Ocean Sciences Meeting 2026 is a major international scientific conference that brings together oceanographers, climate researchers, policymakers, and students to share the latest discoveries in marine and freshwater science.
European Ocean Days 2026
The European Ocean Days is a week-long event with a series of dynamic and interconnected sessions focused on key ocean-related themes, all designed to encourage participants to engage across topics and contribute to a shared vision for the prosperity, competitiveness, security and sustainability of our ocean.
CO-WATERS Needs Assessment Workshop
To ensure that the Coalition of cities, regions, islands and ports for the Mission Ocean and Waters responds to real needs on the ground, CO-WATERS is also organising an in-person needs assessment workshop as a follow-up to its online consultation activities.
Together for change: A Coalition to empower communities for Mission Ocean and Waters
This event will bring together representatives from regions, cities, ports, and islands to celebrate the growing community supporting the Mission Ocean and Waters. The fully interactive session will invite participants to share their experiences and show how their actions make a difference. Building on the shared vision for restoring the ocean and waters, set out in the European Ocean Pact and the Water Resilience Strategy, the event will spotlight the communities active across the four Mission Lighthouse sea and river basins, showcasing successful initiatives, exploring the value of different forms of support and technical assistance, and discussing lessons learnt and remaining needs.
4th Mission Ocean and Waters Forum
The fourth Annual Forum of the Mission 'Restore our Ocean and Waters' aims at taking stock of the Mission's progress and major achievements, at mobilising relevant actors around key Mission deliverables for the deployment phase. The event will showcase innovative solutions developed under the Mission, discuss how key stakeholders, such as the regions, local authorities and the private sectors are involved in implementing the Mission and how different streams of finance are being mobilised to support the scaling and deployment of solutions for reaching the Mission objectives: to protect and restore marine and freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity, boost coastal resilience, eliminate pollution, and make the blue economy climate-neutral and circular.

The Summit is centred around driving action for a sustainable ocean economy and leveraging the ocean as a key part of the global environmental, social and economic agenda.
Connecting The Global Ocean Technology Community
A major global marine-science & ocean-technology fair + conference. EuroMarine Open Science Day 2026
The event gathers marine scientists, researchers and stakeholders to share recent research, discuss socio-ecological challenges and foster collaboration on marine science, conservation, and sustainable ocean research.
Climate neutral blue cities by 2030
The conference 'Climate Neutral Blue Cities by 2030: Accelerating Local Change under the EU Cities and Ocean Missions- Η Λεμεσός στην Πορεία για την Κλιματική Ουδετερότητα' is organised by the Municipality of Limassol in the framework of the EU Mission for 100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030 and with the support of the EU Mission: Restore our Ocean and Waters. Limassol is taking a leading role in driving the green and digital transition towards sustainable, resilient, and inclusive urban development.
One Ocean Week 2026
One Ocean Week is an annual event for debate, exchange of experiences, and activities related to the sustainable use of the ocean. One Ocean Week is part of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
Argus Green Marine Fuels Europe Conference
The 2026 edition brings together shipowners, fuel producers, ports, regulators, technology providers and financiers for discussions on maritime decarbonisation, alternative marine fuels (biofuels, hydrogen, ammonia, e fuels, etc.), and the impact of EU and international regulations on fuel demand and maritime sustainability.
European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) Annual Conference
This is the annual meeting of the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) - participation to conference is paid. ESPO represents the port authorities, port associations and port administrations of the seaports of 21 Member States of the European Union and Norway at EU political level. ESPO also has observer members in Albania, Iceland, Montenegro, Ukraine and United Kingdom.
11th EuroGOOS International Conference
The EuroGOOS conference provides a forum for marine scientists and technologists developing operational oceanography products, and the users of these services including decision and policy-makers as well as the private sector.
European Maritime Day
It is the annual event during which Europe's maritime community meet to network, discuss and outline joint action on maritime affairs and sustainable blue economy. The EMD is also the place where 'Ocean Leaders Meet'. It provides an engaging and interactive experience to catch up on the current state of play on a broad range of issues concerning the blue economy and the marine environment and to discuss ways of moving forward.
Cities Mission Conference 2026
The Cities Mission Conference will gather Europe's leading "Mission Cities". It will bring together city officials, policymakers, researchers, civil society stakeholders and business actors for plenaries, workshops, site visits and networking, aiming to accelerate urban climate neutrality efforts, share best practices in sustainable city planning and foster collaboration towards 2030 climate goals.
Online Coalition launch event
On 8 June 2026 at 14:00 CEST, CO-WATERS is hosting the online launch event of the Coalition of cities, regions, islands and ports for the EU Mission "Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030." Taking place on World Oceans Day, the event will introduce the Coalition, explain how membership works, and present the services CO-WATERS will provide to support territories in their sustainable blue transition, including a preview of the upcoming Sensemaking Workshops. The event is open to both members and organisations interested in joining the Coalition.
The Festival of the New European Bauhaus
The NEB Festival 2026 will, among other topics, address the transformative power of democratic engagement in shaping more inclusive and sustainable communities. It will highlight how empowered citizens and local authorities can play an active role in creating their environments, with a particular emphasis on affordable housing as a cornerstone of democratic participation. In line with the NEB's core vision, the Festival will be a space to reimagine our built environment, placing first life, then spaces, and then buildings.

Seagriculture EU 2026
Organised since 2012, this is the leading conference for the seaweed industry. Seagriculture EU 2026 will gather top speakers, who will share their know-how within seaweed for feed, food, offshore cultivation, biorefinery of seaweed, and much more.
7th Decarbonising Shipping Forum
Europe's premier decarbonizing shipping event. This maritime event will explore groundbreaking technologies and strategies for achieving carbon neutral shipping and reducing vessel carbon footprints. World Water Week 2026: Water for People and Progress
It is the leading conference on global water issues and an enduring meeting place for water action, championing cooperation across sectors and national boundaries. Tackling the greatest challenges of our time often starts with water. At World Water Week, you can delve into a broad range of topics, from food security and health to agriculture, technology, biodiversity and the climate crisis. Each Week is centred on a theme, selected to both set and reflect the global agenda. The theme provides a framework for advancing debate, building new consensus and learning from other sectors and perspectives.
15th European Conference on Ecological Restoration
All aspects of ecosystem restoration will be welcomed, with a focus on ecological considerations, as well as sociological and political ones. All ecosystems and territories will be considered, with special attention given to overseas territories. The conference is also aimed to build bridges with topics that are less well-integrated, such as the restoration of ecological networks (particularly dark infrastructure) and marine ecosystems. Particular attention will be paid to the restoration of wetlands and coastal ecosystems, very present in Brittany. The conference will also focus on the application of European Law on Nature restoration legislation and the implementation of National Restoration Plans.
ECSA 61
Bridging the gap between science and policy in estuarine and coastal marine biodiversity: the way forward. Building on the results of several Horizon Europe projects this conference is a unique opportunity to show the most recent advances of coastal marine research and their applications for European and international policies. For this purpose, ECSA 61 brings together a global multi-disciplinary community of researchers and professionals.

International Marine Science Communication Conference series dedicated to fostering effective communication within the marine science community and beyond. Scaling Water Resilience and Circular Water Solutions from EU projects
As climate change increases the frequency and intensity of droughts, floods and water quality challenges, regional and local authorities are under growing pressure to ensure sustainable and resilient water management. To support this effort, a forthcoming online webinar on Thursday, 3 September 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM (CEST) will bring together EU-funded projects, local and regional authorities, adaptation practitioners and members of the Mission Adaptation community to explore practical solutions that strengthen water resilience across Europe.

Wavemaker Port Innovation Awards 2026
Ports are facing growing challenges related to water quality, resource efficiency and climate resilience. Hosted by Blue Cluster as the EIT Water regional hub for Benelux and France, the Wavemaker Port Innovation Awards 2026 bring together start-ups, port authorities, investors, researchers and innovation experts to explore innovative solutions for these challenges. During this half-day event in the beautiful coastal city of Ostend, selected start-ups will pitch their technologies to representatives from leading European ports and EIT Water experts. Participants will also have the opportunity to discover emerging innovations, exchange ideas and connect with key stakeholders from the European port ecosystem.
Annual Science Conference (ICES 2026)
This event brings together marine scientists from around the world to present innovative research, share ideas and establish long-lasting collaborative partnerships. Mission forward: Shaping the future through mission-oriented policy
The Mission Forward conference is a biennial event that brings the global mission community together to share best practices and common challenges. Mission practitioners and selected leading academics from around the world will gather alongside policymakers, mission managers and project coordinators to discuss the practical dimensions of designing, governing, implementing and evaluating mission-oriented approaches.
Aquaculture Europe 2026
The Aquaculture Europe events are all about communication with the sector. AE2026 will feature a trade exhibition, where regional and international companies will present their latest products and services. Water Innovation Europe
Water Innovation Europe 2026, Water Europe's annual flagship event, is heading to Dublin, Ireland, on 13-14 October! Last year, Water Innovation Europe brought together more than 300 participants from across Europe's water community to shape policy, investment and innovation priorities. This year will revolve around the theme "Raising the bar for the Water Framework Directive", and the collective action needed to achieve the Directive's 2027 objectives.
EIT Water Launch Event
On 15 October 2026, Malaga (Spain) will host the EIT Water Launch Event, marking the official launch of EIT Water, the new Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) dedicated to advancing innovation across the water, marine and maritime sectors. The event will bring together the European community that will lead this strategic initiative to address Europe’s most pressing water-related challenges.
International Atmospheric River Conference 2026
The International Atmospheric Rivers Conference (IARC) is a biennial convening that brings together a global, interdisciplinary community of scientists, forecasters, engineers, and resource managers to advance the understanding, monitoring, and prediction of atmospheric rivers (ARs) and their impacts across various domains, including water management, extreme climate events, and socio-economic resilience. A central goal of IARC is to strengthen connections between scientists, practitioners, and decision-makers to ensure that cutting-edge research informs real-world applications. Through focused sessions and collaborative discussions, the conference supports the development and dissemination of improved tools for monitoring and forecasting ARs. The International Forum “Black Sea 2030: Partnership for a Sustainable Future” will take place in Burgas, Bulgaria, gathering policymakers, researchers, business representatives, and regional stakeholders to discuss the future of sustainable blue growth in the Black Sea region.

IAPH World Ports Conference

EUROPORT 2026
From 4 to 6 November 2026, Europort Istanbul will once again open its doors at the Yenikapi Expo Center in Istanbul. For many years Europort Istanbul has been the premier international business platform connecting Turkish and overseas shipbuilders, shipping companies, maritime authorities and equipment and service providers.
The 8th International Marine Conservation
The 8th International Marine Conservation Congress (IMCC8) is a global gathering focused on advancing science-based solutions for ocean conservation. IMCC8 will take place in Edinburgh, Scotland, from November 13-17, 2026 at the Edinburgh International Conference Center (EICC). Hosted by the Society for Conservation Biology Global Marine Program, the congress brings together hundreds of marine scientists, conservation practitioners, policymakers, educators, students, artists, journalists, and community leaders working across research, policy, management, communication, and community engagement. The goal is to connect marine science with action for the planet and its peoples.
Blue Economy Summit & Trade Show
BEST – Blue Economy Summit and Trade Show – is the new biennial event in Genoa, which will take place on 16-19 November 2026. Over four days of conferences, seminars, networking, and an expo, the event aims to build a community, discuss future prospects, raise awareness among national and international institutions, and take stock of research and development.
7th World Conference on Marine Biodiversity
The World Conference on Marine Biodiversity series (WCMB) is conducted tri-annually. The WCMB is a high-level international meeting that focuses on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biodiversity. The Fifth Forum for the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change takes place on 24 November 2026 in Dublin, Ireland, under the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change supports EU regions, cities, and local authorities in enhancing their resilience to the impacts of climate change. As climate impacts intensify across Europe, the Forum will spotlight practical and replicable adaptation solutions that are making a difference on the ground. Participants will explore innovative tools being developed through Mission Projects to boost climate resilience, collaborate to co-design solutions tailored to their communities, and take advantage of rich networking opportunities to build partnerships across sectors and governance levels.

The 23rd IWA International Conference on Diffuse Pollution & Eutrophication (IWA DIPCON 2026) will focus on advancing knowledge and solutions for managing diffuse pollution and its impacts on aquatic ecosystems. Main themes: diffuse emissions of legacy and emerging trace contaminants (monitoring, modelling and management); diffuse emissions of nutrients; diffuse contaminant emissions from urban areas; agriculture and water quality interactions; eutrophication in freshwater and marine environments; nature-based solutions to tackle diffuse water pollution; tackling water quality problems at the scale of large river basins and impacted coastal areas; quality dimension in water scarcity assessment; and the pollution - biodiversity - climate change nexus.

ECSA Focus Meeting
For its annual Focus meeting in 2027 ECSA will be returning, for the first time in many years, to Ireland. The event will cover a wide range of topics covering the entire coastline and its estuaries. Given the location in Dublin, we are particularly keen on contributions that address the challenge of managing urban coasts while retaining a high degree of geomorphological and ecological integrity and resilience in the coastal system. As is customary with Focus Meetings we will include contributions from government and regulators, academia, nature conservation bodies, tourism, special interest groups and local conservation bodies.
European Maritime Day 2027
Established in 2008, European Maritime Day (EMD) is the annual EU conference meeting point on maritime affairs and sustainable blue growth, and the place where ‘Ocean Leaders Meet’ as the slogan goes. The European Commission, together with the EMD city and ministry/region, organise the conference.
European Freshwater Sciences
SEFS15 will bring together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers working across all areas of freshwater science. The conference theme, "Water Connects", highlights the fundamental role of freshwater in linking ecosystems, societies, and policy. As 2027 marks the next implementation cycle of the Water Framework Directive (WFD), SEFS15 will dedicate an entire conference day to the Directive, focusing on progress to date, its scientific foundations, and future challenges and opportunities for freshwater monitoring and management across Europe.
